What Actually Goes Into a Price
A photo shoot's price isn't just the time behind the camera. Factor in pre-shoot planning, shoot time, editing and retouching hours, and how the client will use the images (personal use vs. commercial/advertising use, which usually costs more).
Pick a Pricing Model
- Flat package — a fixed price for a defined scope (a number of images, one location, one session length). Easiest for clients to say yes to.
- Hourly — works for open-ended shoots, but makes it harder for a client to budget upfront.
- Day rate — standard for full-day event or commercial work.
Packaged, flat pricing is what most marketplace clients expect today — it's also what OPAH's own packages use.
Avoid These Common Pricing Mistakes
- Pricing only your time, and forgetting editing hours.
- Quoting before scoping — always confirm deliverables and usage rights before naming a number.
